里见优（相武纱季）是巢鸭 “希望”看护中心一名处于试用期的家庭看护助理。她所照顾的真壁隆（大竹まこと）原本是个职业人士，但因为脑出血导致半身不遂因而自暴自弃。儿子恍一（中山佑一郎）处于自闭状态、妻子（银纷蝶）出门为止都一言不发。小优认为为了让隆恢复乾劲、家人的关爱必不可少，于是在她的坚持下，装作冷漠的恍一也开始有了变化……。

Set in downtown Tokyo, it depicts the activities of a weak youth baseball team, the Chidori Boys, and the ordinary people who live there.

Six monologues tell the stories of six different repressed souls: a man dominated by his mother, a vicar's wife, an inveterate letter writer, a hopeful actress, a recently widowed woman, and an elderly shut-in.
